I can't get the crankshaft pulley bolt out on a 1993 civic 1.6L. I have put a bar on the rachet handle to extend it for more leverage but the bolt won't break loose. I need to put a new timming belt on. Any ideas would be greatly apreciated.

watch yourself i had the same problem and ended up fucking up the pulle you have to lock the flywheel to get the pulley from moving and yank the hell out of that bolt its torqued at about 180lbs, if you cant get it off then dont because it hast to go right back on with the same torque if not youll mess up more than you plan to and your gonna need a need lower front oil seal, on one of those pulleys for the timing belt it has the seal behinf it you dont replace it yur gonna blow oil then have to take it all back off and replace it

well alrighty then,

no u don't have to lock the flywheel. if u want to lock it, put it in gear and have a buddy apply the brakes. "flywheel is now locked". the bolt is only torqued to 134 Ft-lbs, if u re-torque it to 180, u will strip threads, strech the bolt, and possibly damage the oil seal. the crank will be shot. if u'r changing the timing belt, there is ZERO need to replace the front main seal (oil seal) unless u find an oil leak there, because u shouldn't be touching it in the first place on a timing belt change. yes the front main seal is behind the crank timing gear.

now to u'r problem:
not saying u'r dumb, but sumtimes we all have our moments... which way r u trying to turn the bolt? yes as was mentioned, the easiest way would be to throw the impact in reverse and zip it off. when u go to put it back on, DO NOT use the impact, and torque it down right w/ a torque wrench.
also, r u planning on changing the water pump too, when u r doin the timing belt? it'd be a real good idea. not too expensive, and not too much added time.
