1992 4Runner headlight assy removal.Mark 42 01-02-2005, 01:43 PM How do you get the (LHS) headlight assembly out? A rock busted the lens, and I started to remove the headlight assy to get the water out, but after I got half way done removing the grille it started looking like I would have to remove the front bumper to get the bottom of the grille loose. Usually I like Toyota, but a design where it takes over an hour to remove a headlight assembly is just stupid. They were so determined to hide the fasteners that they made it impossible to get at the headlight easily. It should take only 15 minutes to R&R a headlight assembly. For gawdsakes... it's a truck! I don't mind visible fasteners. Make 'em stainless allen bolts if you wanna be fancy. morowe 01-02-2005, 08:27 PM To get to the housing of head lights I removed the turn signals then the front grill. After the grill comes off out comes 4 screws for each assy and thats it. I hope that helped. I also think that they could have come up with a better way to for us to work on the lights. I don't think changing them is much easier either. Best of luck. MOR Mark 42 01-04-2005, 02:02 PM I'm thinking of drilling holes and putting in sheetmetal screws... if I ever have to do it. Luckily the body shop is going to replace the headlight assy while the truck is there for other repairs. I still don't see how to get the lower fasteners out, and even worse... put them back in! vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
