Legacy 1995 stuck in parkHenry J 01-01-2005, 07:44 PM Help! We have had our '95 Legacy sitting in driveway since July, it started without any problems, but is was really hard to shift (automatic). We drove it up and down the the driveway a few times, finally stopped in Park again, "and it is frozen in Park". Does anyone have any suggestions other than towing to repair shop? Thanks and much obliged! Henry J. Henry J 01-01-2005, 07:45 PM Thanks again Henry J 01-02-2005, 04:18 PM If anyone out there should have a similar problem, stuck in Park, etc................I managed to get the problem sorted out using good old WD40. We now have our Legacy up and running again. sha_zapple 01-04-2005, 04:09 PM If it ever happens again, theres a shift lock release button. Its underneath the shifter trim. its a hole located at the top right (or left...) underneath the trim, and you just have to push a pen or screwdriver in there. Henry J 01-04-2005, 04:30 PM Many thanks for the input, I did manage to unstick it: Using lots of WD 40, but I think it will freeze up again. So I really appreciate the info, but I am not really sure of the location you mentioned. However I will check it out later today, thank you again. HJ sha_zapple 01-04-2005, 04:36 PM Its a little difficult to get at, but if you open up the center armrest, youll see two screws holding the handbrake trim on. Remove those, and the plastic trip should come off easily, then you will be able to take the next piece (the piece around the shifter) off. Henry J 01-04-2005, 06:12 PM Hi again, thanks for the comeback and more explicit info. Graet Advice. hopefully I wont need to get at it now. Our (my wife's) '95 Legacy has sat in The Driveway unused since early July 2004. We now need to use it as our 95 Dodge Caravan blew a head gasket. Thanks a lot.
