Waterpump Problemsesfd455 12-31-2004, 09:17 AM My son has a 1996 Dodge Stratus and has overheating problems. He took it to a shop for repair and the mechanics were starting to change out the water pump when they stopped and put it back together. They said it was too hard to change out the pump. They said it takes pulling over head cams and tons of other things off to get to the pump. I was wondering if anybody has a link on how to chenge out a water pump on a 1996 Stratus.....I would love to see what they are talking about. I would change it for him but being over 1000 miles away its kind of hard. I just thought maybe some info or links would help me talk him thru it. Any help would be appreciated. FF Gary theFREAKnasty82 01-06-2005, 11:57 PM replacing the water pump on that engine, whether it's a 4 or 6 cylinder, requires removal of the timing belt. If you're going to attempt that, make sure you have your camshaft aligned with the crankshaft BEFORE you remove the belt. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
