Wheel HOP.coolguycooz 12-29-2004, 02:19 AM Ok so now that its kind of raining when i turn and kind of accelerate a bit faster then normal i get some wheel hop. How do you get rid of wheel hop is it suspension . the engine mount pads or whatever. or is it the tires.? kjewer1 12-29-2004, 02:47 AM Suspension is a big part of it, so is uerethane motor mounts. Both helped get rid of wheel hop on my AWD. coolguycooz 12-29-2004, 05:43 AM How much do the motor mounts cost where would you buy them and are they easy to change yourself. just do 1 at a time while supporting the engine? kjewer1 12-29-2004, 07:04 AM Not sure how they work on a NT. For the turbo 2g, you buy the set from any DSM vendor that carries them for about 80 bucks. The front and rear are inserts, the side two require removing the stock rubber/sleeve and installing the new sleeveless inserts (easiest way is to have a machinist press them old stuff out for 10 bucks, then install the new ones in a vice). 1g is the same thing, but the rear is also a full replacement. No idea on the NTs :) ashah000 12-29-2004, 09:16 AM You can buy inserts, you can also get solid motor mounts from AFX. Or you can take 3m windo weld (its urathene in a can) and fill them yourself. I am doing this right now. I did the front one yesterday and it helped a bit, but it is still terrible. I am doing the rear today hopefully it will be gone or almost gone. http://www.raktron.com/misc/mt.htm TreeFrog 12-29-2004, 11:56 AM you can buy the whole motor mount set for $95 http://www.extremepsi.com/store/customer/product.php?productid=16797&cat=0&page=1 but they only work on the turbos. i can't belive you have the power on your rs to create wheel hop ashah000 12-29-2004, 12:31 PM i can't belive you have the power on your rs to create wheel hop Power is only a part of it. The condition of you mounts and suspension also matters. My car wheel hops a shit load more that my friend stock tsi. coolguycooz 12-29-2004, 03:44 PM ya it mostly does it when its raining and i turn. when its dry i guess its not really a problem. 96spyderman 12-29-2004, 05:07 PM BoostedSpyder 12-29-2004, 10:08 PM you may just be losing traction a bit in the rain, not really hopping. i can see how it could be mistaken. coolguycooz 12-29-2004, 11:10 PM no im pretty sure its wheel hop. i just wanted to know if i do my suspension if it will almost eliminate it or whatever. i only have problems in the rain when its dry its really not a problem. metalhedskater 12-30-2004, 03:24 AM http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7941837823&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT Woah, that seems like way too good of a deal, which is why i wouldnt consider buying it. Does anyone know of the quality of these mounts? Im actually in the market to get some myself. TreeFrog 12-30-2004, 12:11 PM those are just inserts CBURKE 12-30-2004, 12:12 PM I would say it's your struts. I had that happen to me and it was because they where blown out. So every time i would turn the tire felt like it was hopping like a ball. GSTRacerNVUS 12-30-2004, 01:00 PM you may just be losing traction a bit in the rain, not really hopping. i can see how it could be mistaken. +1 Wet or dry mine don't have good traction in 1st and 2nd, because of my tires. I'm guessing it wouldn't be a bad idea to change out the motor mounts, anyway. metalhedskater 12-30-2004, 07:26 PM those are just inserts oh ok shit...i didnt even see that. Thanks for pointing out the dumbass mistake! vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
