88 Voyager won't start in freezing weatherAna Little 12-28-2004, 02:36 AM Now that the temperature is dropping to zero at night, my van won't start until the sun gets around to shine on the hood and thaw whatever is keeping it from starting out. It has a new battery and all the interior lights and buzzers still work, but it doesn't even make as much as a clicking noise as far as starting is concerned. Any help on this matter will be very much appreciated. ~Ana GTP Dad 12-28-2004, 06:59 AM It sounds like your starter may be going bad. When they get cold they change character just like anything else. When it is real cold the starter can bind up and not want to turn. The starter solenoid can also refuse to engage for the same reason. I would make sure that the oil is good and is the proper weight for the temperature. 5W-30 is recommended for temps below 30 degrees. An oil that is too heavy can lead to starting problems where the engine won't turn over until the oil is warmed and flows better. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
