The courtesy lights( lights the floorboards when door opens) flash on and off while driving, especially when I am turning the steering wheel. I think either there must be a short in the steering column or else one of the relays is out. Shortly after this started the instrument panel lights went out. I checked the bulb and its good. I think it might be the r12 relay controlling the courtesy lights if its not a short.... any ideas? anyone have a similar problem?

I don't have much money and would like to fix it myself if possible for someone with limited mechanical skills
