Can't start JGC in coldonuphis 12-27-2004, 04:07 PM Hey folks, I've got a 94 JGC that won't start. Batteries fine (11.5v), fuel pump sounds ok, and the starter cranks but I can't get it to turn over. Some other particulars: Fuel tank was left on E for a day and it got cold ~10F - added some dry gas and put in 10 gallons of gas - but still no start. 3 days ago it got real warm ~ 60F and it started right up. Drove it around the block - no problems. Cut it off, let it sit for 30 mins, and it started up again. Went out the next morning after a drop in temp to about ~30F and now it won't start again. Tried starter fluid but does not work. ANy thoughts? Dale Aeppli 12-27-2004, 05:34 PM Hey folks, I've got a 94 JGC that won't start. PULL A PLUG WIRE AND HOLD TO GROUND, IF YOU DON'T HAVE SPARK AT PLUG AND YOU DO AT COIL WIRE THEN YOU MAY HAVE A BAD CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR IN DISTRIBUTOR. USE INSULATED PLIERS TO HOLD WIRE DALE jeepman600@aol.com JDPascal 12-27-2004, 06:48 PM First of all LEAVE THE STARTING FLUID IN THE TOOL BOX OR WHERE EVER YOU STORE IT!!!!!!! you will only create more problems if you use it on a gas engine. Bent pushrods, bent connecting rods are some of the usual damage. you should have more than 11.5 volts at the battery terminals. `12.2v is a DEAD battery. and with the cold you loose atleast 50% efficiency. Check to see if it is frozen!!!! probably is. If you take the battery out, either put in a "new" fully charged warm battery or take that battery in the house to warm up and charge it. Make sure you don't try to charge it if it is frozen. JD vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
