car dying at stops/no heatpattyscomet 12-27-2004, 11:40 AM About two weeks ago my car started to die at a stopping point if gas wasn't applied. I took it to a friend to get a simple diagnostic test. He could not figure it out and said that he thought that it was some sort of computer problem and that I would probably have to go to the dealer to get some sort of download About a week ago my heat went out. Air still blows but no heat. I'm not sure if this is related. On very tight budget and taking it to the dealer scares me a little. Any info would be helpful. thanks KimMG 12-27-2004, 12:03 PM Heat- After car warms up are both hoses going to the heater core hot, warm, or cold? Stalling- What does a simple diagnostic test test? Did your friend check for vacuum leaks? What year is your car? Which engine? Energy22 12-30-2004, 09:49 AM same problem here. mine is very hard to start in the morning. i also have no heat, & on a tight budget. radiator flushing DID NOT work. trying new thermostat soon. refuse to accept heater core failure. $$$$$$$$ any other suggestions? 99 taurus LX. 3.0 LITER KimMG 12-30-2004, 11:39 AM Energy22- You have to back flush the heater core separate from the rest of the cooling system. About your thermostat, is the car running cooler than normal (what is the temp guage reading)? After the car warms up check the hoses going to the heater core. If both are hot then it may be a blend door problem. If not, then the heater core is most likely clogged. pattyscomet- autozone is able read a lot of the codes. It is possible that your heater problem is separate from your engine problem. Check the hoses like I advised Energy22 to do above. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
