Stop Light Not WorkingLongshanks666 12-27-2004, 06:04 AM Hi All, This is my first post so i hope you can help I have a 1995 318I Convertible that has no stop lights, I was first made aware of this problem when someone told me at a set of Traffic lights, When I inspected the bulbs they were fine I then got some help and had a friend stand behind the car while i pressed the brake pedal no lights until i moved the brake pedal to the left a bit then they came on it worked for a bit but now no lights again and if i move the pedal to the left nothing. First what do you think the fault is? If its the STOP light Switch how do i get access to it and change it If its not the stop light switch how do i repair it Dave KC Ron Carter 12-27-2004, 09:02 AM The stop light switch is a definate fix. It is mounted on a bracket where the pedal arm will cause it to actuate when the pedal is pushed. If you have cruise the switch will have a second set of wires to release the cruise when the brakes are applied. It should be a 10 minute job with the column dust cover removed. http://www.lehrmangroup.com/rickard/318dash1.jpg You can then take it to any parts store to get a replacement. Later, Longshanks666 12-28-2004, 05:44 AM Thanks for the help it was brilliant, The picture was a help too, the plunger on the switch was sticking probably needs replaceing so will do that as soon as the xmas season is over but with a little bit of WD40 the plunger and lights are ok Again thank you for your help vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
