I have a 2000 Venture with Power Sliding Passenger Door. I have a problem, the sliding door won't unlock? The lock tab on the door won't budge upward, even though pressing the power unlock switch tries to move it upward. Forcing it doesn't work either. I can't find a way to take the door apart when it is locked closed. Any help here is appreciated. Thanks. Please!!!!!!!!!!!!

Scroll down and check the post about the same problem that plagued ggcatt. They found some help to the problem on the web, maybe you could contact them for the link, or to compare notes.

Keep flipping the switch up and down until the side door unlocks. Waiting a day, or failing that, spraying the front door jam with a hose might help. When it finally opens, clean the door electrical contacts (both sides) with a very fine steel wool.

Stomana, I'm glad you could get your's fixed with spray oil. I tried that too but it didn't help. I had to force the door lock until it released so I could open the door. There is some info on the web about internal linkage interference in the door, but I haven't tried to take the door apart, neither do I want to. I understand Chevy will recall vans with power doors to fix a related door handle problem, and maybe they will fix this one too.

To fix it, pull up the sill plate trim on the pass side (front) door, and lift back the carpeting under the floor. Look in the big bundle of wires in there, and follow the light blue and white wires toward the firewall about 12" until you see several taped splices. These are probably corroded. Untape the wires, cut out the damaged wires, and solder new wire in place, followed by heatshrink. Probably best to do both wires, although one of your seems to work right now, it may be just about gone.

The other problem regards the tube that is probably missing from the A/C drain in front of the firewall. It's nearly impossible to see, but it's about 6" behind the engine, toward the driver side from the gap on the side witht he drive belt, anout 6" up from the bottom of the firewall. The tube is necessary because the a/c water drains FORWARD (Duh, nice design) and when you drive it blows back in, and overflows under the carpet. A new "L fitting" tube only costs $4.30 (dealer price) and it'll fix the "water in the pass footwell area" problem..

Weren't all the Ventures, Transports, Montanas, & Silohuettes (sp) with power sliding doors recently recalled?
