After months of sluggish response on applying the gas, 3 transmission O/H s under worthless warranty ,.. independent mechanic....the car was starting out in second gear ,auto trans , 94 GC 4x4 4.0 engine .........
as it turned out ..from the dealer ,out of state and $700.00, The fool that tries to work on transmissions was using an iron lock ring on the transducers inside the trans , it has to be a non metallic teflon lock ring . the iron will not work in an electronic trans , it immediatly ruins the $200.00 + parts and will eventually end up in emergency limp mode , with the overheating that comes from driving it to any service .....properly repaired the car runs like a young pup.......as to the security alarm..

we stopped for a break on a long drive of 1100 miles round trip , the car ran perfectly all the way , untill we came back out and tried to start it , , thought i flooded the engine , and after numerous attempts to start , it finally caught , but ran rough , we got 1/4 mile down the road out of las vegas when it stopped completly , and wouldnt start at all , no warning lights , no indication of what happened ....back to the dealer on a flat bed tow truck......they said something triggered the security alarm and cut off the gas ,....attempted break in ??.... my remote keyless had dead batteries for months , and didnt have it with me , figured i didn t need it , but the dealer said it would reset the security system if it was activated , the lack of warning lights and headlight s flashing on battery reconnect didnt give any clue to the problem...the security system had to be reset at the dealership..

lessons learned , carry the keyless entry fob in the car , it went dead in my pocket from keys or change draining the batteries while sitting ......trans overhaul ?? go to the dealer , pay the premium price and SAVE MONEY in the long run....... best to you all on this great site

Sounds like the dealer is bluffing you on the alarm issue though. If it was truely the alarm, it wouldn't have started at all. Also, to shut the alarm, DCX made it so you can unlock it with your key in ANY door including the hatch to shut it off. I'd be suprised you don't have the same problem again. To me, it sounded like a crank position sensor going bad.

well the alar, will allow it to start but die right away (kinda the same way a bad IAC acts). but I don't think it would cause it to run rough.

well thanks for the tips GLASS.

I agree with all the above posts , but as an aside ... while stuck on the road , I pulled the fuel pressure regulator off, thinking it was plugged , and there was no fuel pressure behind it , I bought a new one later that day , bled off the pressure per the book , popped the old regulator and still got a surprising spray out of it , installed the new one , kept the old for a spare , as to the CPS, the car starts great now , but I will carry a spare of that as well, I have replaced all the sensors i could find , as a precaution on an old car on long trips , and carry them as spares well on the trips
