air bag light stays on on instrument paneltoolbelt 12-24-2004, 10:35 AM Thanks in advance, 1996 Jeep Cherokee laredo and the air bag light came on 3-4 days ago and continues to stay on. :-( Prior to this (check engine light), I had 2 new oxygen sensors replaced and no more problems here (but.....on a side note thought OS were kinda pricey). Couple of months ago, dials began to drop while driving (figured alternator) but replaced battery and this fix was over. Any suggestions on turning off the air bag light? I thought I'd disconnect battery cable for a few seconds to see what would happen. Thanks. slacker_53 12-24-2004, 11:02 AM Just something for you to quickly check.............there are two airbag fuses in your fuse block located in the right kickpanel. The fuse positions should be 26 & 27, I believe the fuses to the far lower right. Check your owners manual to be sure. If they would happen to be blown or not making good contact, your airbag light will be on. I would like to disconnect the passenger airbag in my wifes Jeep, but I haven't figured out how, without having the airbag light stay lit. Good luck, slacker xj31 12-24-2004, 12:45 PM is this a cherokee or a grand cherokee? The reason I ask is 95 and 96 cherokees do not have air bag lights.they have a mechanical airbag system with no electronics. toolbelt 12-24-2004, 07:40 PM Thanks slacker, Looking forward to trying your suggestion out. Its not returned to the driveway and I suspect last minute Xmas shopping :-( I'll try it out first thing tomorrow morning. Toolbelt...... Airbags is something you don't want to "F" around with. Your safety and your passengers could be at stake, im all for donig it yourself but things like this should be taken to the dealership and have them check it out vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
