Hello all,

I know most of you who have a 2.7 liter intrepid have had some issues with it and I can sympathize with you. I'm doing a poll; of all the persons who have either a Chrysler Concorde or Dodge Intrepid between the years 1998-2004 with the infamous 2.7 V6 and you have had engine failure/troubles that you have had it and you live in FL, let me know. I'm curious to see if climate has an affect on these engines. My email is papadfl82@yahoo.com. Thanks again for your time.

thank you all for responding. What I have been able to tell is that most engine failures occur up north b/c most of my collegues and other Chrysler dealers in FL have rarily heard of 2.7 engine failures; in fact, that's a highly reliable engine; it'll last longer than the tranny! I know some will chime in and highly disagree w/ me; and I'm aware of this. Again, I feel pity for those who have been stuck w/ 2.7 engine failures; you have every right to be angry. For those of you that are pursuing class-action lawsuits against Chrysler, maybe you could use this a fuel for your fire in your battle, I don't know. Lord knows that I wish I could do more to help you folks out there who have not been so fortunate. For those of you who have 2.7's that are running just fine, no unusual sounds from the motor, I recommend using synthetic oil in your motors, especially if you live in FL b/c as we all know, we may have a "winter" for 2 months and it's 80 degrees or warmer, and those high temps can cook motor oil, in addition to 200+ engine temps. Synthetic oil will not wear as quickly as conventional oil. And don't even mess around w/ synthetic/conventional blends; waist of time and money. Synthetic is more expensive, but better in the long run.

And just to add, if you all think Chrysler is the Evil Empire and decide to go to another company, like GM, think again folks. There is currently a class-action lawsuit against them for a similar issue; their coolant, Dex-Cool, has caused a lot of engine failures in the 3.4 or 3.8 V6 engines, commonly found in their Impala sedans, Monte Carlos, Venture minivans, Pontiac Montana etc. No car company is perfect, just a bit of advice before you buy your next car, DO YOUR RESEARCH! Find out the trouble spots on that car before you sign on the dotted line, case in point my wife's 2003 Impala. Her lease is up in April and since we got it new in April 2003, have had more issues with that car than with my Intrepid.

I amo curios also about the failure problem. Mississippi has had some failures. I suspect the cooling system. If air gets in the system and is not bled out will the top of the motor run hotter making this sludge problem. There is some inherent problem .. Chrysler probly knows by now.

when my 2.7 Intrepid is cold and sometimes hot it chatters or stutters when idleing and when i take of it is slow like timing or something then I feel it hit as if the tranny shifted and it takes off what is my problem maybe and what do I do
