Hi all,
I have been reading your notes and it seems there may be someone to give me some pointers. I have Three problems remaining in my project car and I hope it doesn't take all winter to get it on the road. (1) I have a very severe miss when under load or acceleration. This started a couple of days ago when I ran low on fuel. My fuel light came on and immediately it started missing. I made it to the station and refueled but the missing continued. I changed the fuel filter and it did not help.
(2) I have a chassis felt vibration at 70mph+. To try to correct problem I have done the following. All new front suspension inlcuding ball joints, tie rods, track bar, steering stablizer shock, bushings (front and back) (replaced with poly bushings and new shocks.) replaced all UJoints. New set of tires mounted and balanced. Still has vibration at 70MPH +. (3) Digital read out says "rear lamp failure) When I turn my lights on. I look at the rear tail lights and they seem to be okay, but a little weak. When I rented a Uhaul the guy wiring the trailer had to by pass the factory trailor connector. He said the wiring was screwed up. Is there a way to disconnect the trailer plug without doing a major wiring job in order to see if the connector itself is shorted out? If anyone can give me some pointers where to try next to fix these problems, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, taggs

need to know:

Engine

Transfer case model

stock tire size??

any lift or other modifications??

can you feel the vibe - front? rear? left? right? steering wheel?.

how severe is the vibration?? Any noise happen with it when you feel it??

mileage

and maybe some other bits along the way.

Some most likely possibilities off the top of my head would be wheel bearings, front axle cv joints,

For the rear lamp failure, check the the high mount brake lite for three working bulbs. even one burnt out will set off the dreaded ''rear lamp failure'' message.

Have you checked for engine codes?? is the check engine lite on?? Sounds fuel related. sediment could have gotten thru to the injectors. Try some fuel conditioner for fuel injection systems otherwise you may need a trustworthy shop.

this should give you a place to start again on each of the problems anyway..

Thanks for the reply, JD. The tires are 235s same as what came off of it. There is no lift and I replaced the hubs (bearing assemblies..forgot to mention that) I don't know where to find tranfer case number.. The engine is the V5.2. The vibration is hard to locate. it seems that the whole car shakes EXCEPT the steering. There is a humming noise when it starts to vibrate. The vibration gets worse as I cross 70MPH. Here on I25 through Colorado the speed limit is 75 and that seems only to be a suggestion.. you can get run over going that slow. I will try the fuel conditioner. Hope that will help. The jeep had a full dealer tune-up less than 1000 miles ago according to the paperwork I got with the Jeep. I bought it about a month ago.. Still working on it in my spare time. I needed a 4X4 since I moved up to colorado. I have an new dodge hemi rear wheel drive, but it is as useless as air-brakes on a turtle. I have to send it back to texas to have my son sell it as soon as I get the jeep running. thanks again...
