not sure what that code might be, but check the 02 sensors. good chance that could be it. or just replace it anyway, better mileage.

Code 43 - multiple cylinder misfire. this is the reason of the jeep running rough, make sure spark plug wires are connected properly. if they are it may be time to replace plugs and wires (if haven't done lately), could be a series of things.

start by checking the condition of the plugs. and go from there.

thanks plugs changed approx 2000 miles ago, current milage 105k. I might have a bad catalytic convertor. sounds like it is rattling inside. thought this might create a bad signal at the downstream o2 sensor (if there is one)

Had this problem with my 96 5.2 code 300 multiple missfire. A bad plug can make this code and cause it to show more than one cylinder to miss. My was intermintent and drove me crazy. Finally while it was in missfire I ran a scan and it showed the cylinder that was missing. Turned out to be a bad plug. Could be wires, plugs a bad Injector a bad coil can even cause this problem. Could even be in the valve train. This will give you a place to start.

Thanks All

Check Engine code 43 read thru instrument panel. I checked this with my brothers OBDII scanner which first read P00300 multiple cylinder misfires plus P00301 thru 309 which correlate to misfires in each of the eight cylinders. This was all scanned after the overheated catalytic convertor and down stream o2 sensor were replaced along with new dist cap and rotor and new wires ( plugs were changed out approx 1000 miles prior when daughter first complained of hard start. The plugs that were pulled were Motorcraft AGSP 32C only the No 8 cyl rear passenger side was fouled. These were replaced with Autolite Platinums AP 3924 gapped at .035. Obviously something common to all eight cylinders. Next step changed out the ignition coil. Old coil checked okay when ohm meter checks made so I guess that only tells you maybe you have a bad coil because the new coil ultimately in addition to replacing the No 8 cyl plug solved the problem. After new coil installed car still ran rough. Engine was scanned again this time only 3 codes P00300, 301, and 308. Pulled both plugs, number one had cleaned up nicely number eight was still fouled. once replaced car ran smoothly

Thanks again
