Montana shocks

2002 Montana...Just heard a small pop and now the rear is a few inches higher, like I have no shocks and a bouncy ride. Did the shocks go bad or is there something else happening. Under, nothing looks broken only the shocks look extended. Any feedback will be appreciated.

IF you have load leveling suspension (air shocks and compressor) you may have broken the linkage arm that determines the level of the shocks. If it hs hanging free, the compressor would pump the shocks all the way up, resulting in high rear end. The linkage is a little arm, about in the center of the rear axle, it connects to the compressor control unit. Its probably just hanging there. Crawl under and look, but don't mess with it unless you've got the van suppored by jack, as moving it could cause the shocks to deflate.

Yes, that may be the prob... The arm was rusty and stuck up. I sprayed WD40 on it and loosen it up. The compressor kicked in/out and re-leveled the van. However, it still does not come down like I assume it should. Is this arm on a spring? broken spring or just rusty. If it had a small weight, it'd work, but that's not right.

Naw, the arm isn't connected to any type of spring, it just attaches the axle to the control unit. its supposed to pivot pretty freely though, maybe keep luben it up till its nice and free. You may have to disconnect the air shocks from the compressor to let them down (make sure van is supported by jack or jackstand when you do this though!)
