PLEASE Help! Cold eng. start. Fires then jumps to 3k rpm then chokes down. If I put in gear I can keep it running, but rough & missing. Once normal operating temp. reached runs great all day till next morning. Have done the following: New plugs & wires, IAC sensor, TPS, no different. Now it is suggested the CamShaft Position sensor. Is it worth another $100 for a maybe fix? Thanks for any help!! P.S. I have had this problem for many months. SES light will come on after about 3 miles, then goes off after another 3 or 4 mi..

:banghead: Good Luck! I also am having idle problems with 95 3.4l. I made a post back in September and there doesn't seem to be a lot of information on this engine. I hope you find the information you need because I could possible use this information also. My Lumina does not run good enough to sell, unless I want junk price.

Thank's for the response. I'm about at the same point you are! Car was fine till I hit 65k miles. Down hill ever since. What really mistifies me is once engine warms up it purrs like a kitten. Oh well,,, Merry Christmas to you.

I had a 93 3.4 with high idle then choke off, then stay at high idle. all sorts of messed up.The idle control motor was trying to make up for a vacumm leak. It turns out that when the gaskets get old, the rubber on them gets hard, when the car warms up the rubber swell and closes the vacumm leak. I did nothing but change intake gaskets, about a 6 hour job with total cost for gasket $19.95. Then it ran like a new car.

have your coolant temp sensor checked. If it reading a warm engine when if fact its cold it will act up just as you say yors does

Good thought, sounds reasonable and maybe cheap. I'll check out where it is and if I can do it. Thanks. jt
