Hi All,
I am located in Ottawa Canada, right now it is -44 Celcius outside and my battery is frozen.

I took the battery out and it is now sitting beside me on my couch. I am wondering what is the safest and most efective way of thawing it out?
I have heard stories on how dangerous batteries can be, is it bad to smoke around a battery? Or have it sitting beside me all night, is there fumes? Or playing XBOX with it?

I am assuming that it was dead anyway since it froze. Charged batteries generally do not freeze (experience only, I don't know the science). Here is what to do:

1. Go to realtor.com and find yourself a place in Florida.
2. Buy a new battery for your Altima and drive there.
3. Call a mover and send for your belongings.

I've had fully charged batteries freeze. When the electrolyte freezes, it cannot be absorbed into the plates to provide enough amps to turn your engine over. Turn your headlights on for 3-5 minutes, this will allow the electrons to flow, allowing you to start your engine. The heat in the engine compartment and the lights and ignition going will thaw your battery. Stay warm!!
