Hi there,

I just noticed I have a damaged wheel stud. It appears a couple of the threads are stripped. Is there a way to fix this stud or do I need to replace the entire hub bearing assembly?

Thanks.

you could try to retap (dye - I think thats spelled right) the threads or you could pound the stud out (it pounts out from front to back) and buy a new stud and put in.

if it is one of the back stud (rear wheels) it is a lil difficult to do. u have to take the e-brake shoes off and put the stud through and put a couple washers on the stud and the lug nut, then tighten the nut until the stud is fully seated into the hub - this will be easier accomplished with a breaker bar, the nut will get really tight. on the rear it is very important that the stud seats fully into the hub, if not then the back of the stud will rub against the e-brake. - this is the same for the front wheel studs as well except for the e-brake part.
