Jeep GC steering death wobble.

An earlier thread indicatd that a wobble was cured with the installation of an "OLD MAN EMU". I've replaced the tie rod ends and track bar and still have the wobble at low speeds when the road is rough. I can feel a bit a high speed, but it comes on a low speed only. I raised the GC with a 2 inch Rancho kit and thats when the problem started. Can anyone tell me what the Old Man Emu is, as it seemed to cure the individuals problem.

Well, if you used the Rancho control arms, you might have problems. They use hard poly bushings instead of rubber bushings like other lift manufacturers. Old Man Emu makes lifts and shocks, they are referring to the steering stabilizer they make. I use a Rancho steering stabilizer on my 96 Grand with 3 1/2 lift and have zero death wobble. You might want to get a good alignment as well. How much did you actually research lifting your Jeep before you did it? Or were you one of those people who simply "thought it looked cool"??

I've had my front end alignment done twice, replaced all the Tie Rod Ends and new track bar. My son is an off road driver and recommended that since we live in the desert and I only go off road occasionally, a two inch lift should be plenty. My GC is set up just like my son's and he has not had any problems. We are using BF Goodrich KO tires that seem to work well in the sand as well as being suprisingly quiet on the highway. I'm on my second Jeep (last one was a 92 Cherokee Clasic that I put 132K miles on) and I bought it used with 105K miles on it and I've spent about $2500 in general upgrades, but the GC is running so well and with my electrical and intake mods, the 4.0 engine is getting 23 MPG on the open road and handles well except for the wobble in the front end. I found OLD MAN EMU on the internet and have ordered the adjustable track bar. Thanks
