CEL light and Fuel Gauge.davidf379 12-18-2004, 09:23 AM I've read messages about the problems with the CEL light and the Fuel gauge. I have this problem. My CEL light is always on and my fuel gauge always reads empty. However, I have a 2001 Rodeo and the problem was supposed to be fixed with that year and up. Is it still the same problem? Does anyone have any suggestions? amigo-2k 12-18-2004, 10:37 PM yup, it is the same problem also, go to autozone and have your codes read to find out why it is going off. tcormier 01-12-2005, 07:17 PM I have a 99 Rodeo that the CEL is on and the gas gauge will show empty when full or after I fill up the tank, it will be normal until I get about 20 miles then it will go up and down or the fuel light will flash. Does anyone know what causes this? amigo-2k 01-12-2005, 08:15 PM There is a theroy that some brands of gas mess up the fuel sending unit. The sending unit costs about 40 bucks and is located in the gas tank. If you check out the FAQ link there is a how to inside it. As for the CEL autozone will read it for free. THe most common reason for a CEL is a loose gas cap, stuck pintel in the EGR, or a bad Intake manafold gasket. The first two are easy DIY fixes. Ryan Slade901 01-13-2005, 09:15 AM Go here for TSB and Recalls http://www.edmunds.com/maintenance/MaintenanceServlet Same issue with our 1999 Honda Passport. There is a TSB on this. We have an extended warrany on our vehicle and dealer replaced the fuel sending unit. TorinoGT69 01-13-2005, 09:32 AM Before you can do anything you need to get the codes from the computer. On some OBD II systems a bad fuel sending unit will cause a CEL. That could be your only problem. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
