Hey guys,
I have a 2001 2.4 Alero with 52000 kilometers. This morning the Service Vehicle Soon Light came on. Will that light register in the computer like the Check Engine light? I read through some other posts and people said that the light can come on for different reasons....hub/bearing, wheel sensor, etc. If its hooked up to the computer, will it actually output the cause?

Thanks!

I'm not sure if it is connected to the PCM. If your hub/bearing goes out, the Service Vehicle Soon light will come on along with the ABS and Trac Off lights, not on its own. Check your daytime running lamps as well as your brake lights / turn signals. If any of these are out, it will trigger the light. Mainly, if the Service Vehicle Soon light comes on it means there is an issue with "body control" parts. Hope this helps...let us know what you find.

Hey,

On the gas cap there is a sensor and if you do not tighten it correctly then it will put your check engine light on. Make sure that it is closed tightly because this could be the problem.

Actually, its not a sensor - if the gas cap isn't on right there is a loss of vaccuum in the system that sets of the light...but that's only the Service ENGINE soon light. He is talking about his Service VEHICLE soon light. On the Alero's, they are two different things.
