1.) welcome to AF
1b.) read the FAQ.
2.) its illegal in i believe all states, to swap the engine from an older car, into a newer car.

i thought it was only illegal if you try and sell it as a 95 civic. isnt it legal if you either don't sell it, or if you just sell it as a 91 hybrid or whatever?

why would it matter if the motor is complety rebuilt.

Because unless everyone who buys the car takes the block apart to inspect, noone will know itīs rebuilt. You could buy a 2000. Swap in a 10 year-old motor, get some fake rebuild papers and sell both for profit. Would that be fair to anyone buying the car?

B18A1, 130HP, 121lb/ft of torque, why bother? If it's not an EX than just get the D16Z6. The torque is nice but no you would have to be stupid to buy a 5th gen civic with a Teg GS motor in it. If it were the B17A1 then maybe but why bother ruining the resale by putting a GS motor in? I'm just saying, you will have a hard time selling it once you do it. Or maybe not, kids are ignorant these days. But it seems like too much of a hassle when you could just slap a SOHC VTEC in it for next to nothing.

Can't be done very easily anyways.... see the 91 engine you speak of uses a cable clutch system, and the 92+ Civics use a hydrolic clutch... therefore without a bunch of extra work and money to fix that lil' problem, it's not a doable swap...
As for the legality of the swap, you could do it yourself... just make sure not to get caught. But I dare you to find a reputable shop that would even think about it!
Just sell the engine to some dude with a 88-91 Civic/CRX...

USDM or JDM ITR?...also the B18c5's are real hard to come by right? And real expensive! The guys in japan keep all the goodies for themselves, the JDM ITR motors being oneof them :finger: ;)

A type-R engine is not that hard to come by. You can get them all over for about $5,000.00 for a B16B and about $6,000.00 for a B18C5. I have seen them quite a few places actually.

A longblock is everything from the valve cover to the oil pan with no manifolds.
