97 LX Accord wont stay on!!LauraStringfellow 12-14-2004, 04:22 PM My 97 Honda accord wont stay on. I get a little ways and then it dies. I have heard it might be vapor lock but I don't know. When it was hot outside it died more often than not. When it winter came around it didn't die as much, now it wont go more than about 20 feet and then dies. I can't even get it down the road. Someone please HELP!! superbluecivicsi 12-21-2004, 04:44 AM when was the last time you changed your cap, rotor, wires, spark plugs? last time you changed your fuel filter? thats it for the maintenence related stuff. Could also because you have a very big vacuum leak. hows the gasket on the intake manifold, throttle body? hows the vacuum everywhere else, ex. fuel pressure regulator? loose connections at the alternator? correct factory timing is set? hows the compression pressure of the cylinders? clogged fuel lines? thats what i would do to pinpoint the problem, chances are, id find em there somewhere. superbluecivicsi 12-21-2004, 04:45 AM PS: 97 accord heh? there is no check engine light that came with this? im pretty sure one will pop up in this condition. mwkirchner 12-29-2004, 09:53 PM My 97 Honda accord wont stay on. You may want to check and see if the IGNITION SWITCH RECALL was needed on your car ... and if it was ... if it has been done. The symptoms you are mentioning can be caused by it. You can put your VIN number in here (or email it to me at: mwkirchner2000@yahoo.com) and I will run it and see if it was elegible and if so ... if it has been done. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
