horsepower vs. blingafshinbayegan 12-13-2004, 02:50 AM hi, i recently purchased a 1990 525i bmw, and im sorta unsatisfied with the horsepower, and with the interior. i bought it out of necesity. and i have two thousand dollars to spend. whats the best way to get more power out of the car? and where can i find the part? (im thinking turbocharger), and where can i get wood trims for the interior? or ne other ideas? thanx 4 ur help! KC Ron Carter 12-13-2004, 03:15 AM Like all BMWs the best pop for the dollar is the increase in differential ratio. Look on the aft plate of the differential to see what you have now. Nitrous is a better FI dollars wise. Later, 4-Door Flunky 12-13-2004, 12:54 PM Sorry, KC, but for consistent use, nitrous is a terrible option. There are several places that will install a turbocharger, but those all cost four or five thousand dollars, unless you're prepared to do the work yourself. That's the only way it could be done on the budget you proposed. For a little more horsepower, I recommend a header and a cold air pipe with a K&N filter, preferably with a discharge valve in case you suck up some water. Having said that, myy BMW is stock because I want it to keep on runnin'!
