How do you get the CV Axle off the Transmission?

1. remove things in the way.
2. remove things attached.
3. pull.

Haynes has some good photos to help.

Longer version-
Remove tires, brake pads, shoes, and rotor. Use the 24mm (the one from autozone ect. that is made to remove the big nut in the middle. It's either 24mm or 26mm, but specific to your car)
Remove the ~18mm nut on the ball joint. Swivel the strut out and off to the side, separating it from the axle, and pull the axle out. There is a ring joint in the tranny holding it in. Pull hard enough, and it will pop out.

As stated before, consult the Haynes for pictures. :)

Ok. But now we have a problem, the strut came off with the coil, and we are trying to figure out how to get the coil and strut back on to put the new axle on.

If you have a means of towing it in to an alignment shop, they'll put it back on for you, but it will have to be re-aligned now.
