Take your finger when the engine is off and wipe inside the mouth of the throttle body. If your finger comes out really black and dirty thats your problem. I had the same a while ago. I had to use a small brush and some carb cleaner and wipe/scrub the build up off that area to get mine to run OK. Mine use to shut down at lights and shutdown after I turned a corner when I stopped pushing the gas pedal for the turns and stops. Now it is fine.......See what you find........Hope this helps......HO HO HO Merry Xmas and Happy Holidays........

I agree with 455 a good thorough cleaning of the Throttle Body is prolly what u need, if that doesn't help it sounds like it might a the Idle Air Control Valve (Motor)

Had the same problem with my 96 5.2 cleaned the throttle body and still had to replace the IAC which fixed the problem.

A throttle body is what today's fuel injected engine has instead of a carburetor. It'll be right up there on top. You'll have to get the intake tube that goes from the box with your air filter in it off to get to it.

This link might give you an idea of what things look like.
