What needed to accomodate 9" LIFT more...

I recently got a set of springs and shox for a tj wrangler. I have heard that this will fit my 93 zj. I wanted to know what else I need to put this on my grand cherokee. Sway bar link extensions? Control arms. Also, where do I find theese products I will need? What size tires should I go with? If the 9" wont fit, I have a 5" stricktly zj, and mods to put 35's under her. This is a trail only jeep, and I don't mind cutting anything.
Thanks.

Technically they should fit. However, I would highly recommend NOT putting them on your ZJ. With the added weight of the ZJ, you might be closer to around 8" of lift which will still require a very well designed lift kit to accomodate them without serious consequences. FYI - ZJs don't have 'frames' - they are unibody's and as a result are prone to lots flex in the 'sub-frame/body'. This makes them somewhat more challenging to lift that high successfully.

If you do try to use them you will need: control arms (upper and lower, front and rear - preferrably articulating units with a joint on at least one end - with), adjustable track bars (front and rear), Extended sway-bar links (disconnectable if you actually intend to 'use' the lift), New brake lines, bump-stops, and longer drive-shafts (or have yours lengthened), and a heavy-duty steering damper. You might also consider reinforcing the steering gear-box to the other 'sub-frame' rail somehow.

If you are attempting to custom fabricate a lift for it, good luck - it will be alot of work and will likely require alot of swearing. Look at the taller Rubicon Express lift kits and see what parts they include for reference.

I put a 4" lift on my zj and had a blast figuring out how to eliminate the 'death wobble' which destroyed my track bar and steering gear-box. Ultimately I found out it was because I hadn't replaced the lower front control arms, which when coupled with the existing worn out control arm bushings, was completely unstable.

If you have 5" components, I'd suggest using those. Then, replace the lower control arms (check into Skyjacker, tera-flex, etc...) in the front and the rear, extend the brake lines so they don't break, lengthen the driveshafts, replace the front and rear track-bars (again, skyjacker .. procomp..etc...) or at a minimum use a rear track-bar bracket to center the rear axle (tho I hear those eventually break). You will also need a heavy-duty steering damper. Check out Old Man Emu - theirs is sick - other companys have them too.

Good Luck either way.

I have a 3" pro-comp lift right now, would the control arms from this lift kit be suitable for the 5"?

You might want to try you question here. These guys deal extensively with lifted grands.

p.s. I don't know of anyone running 9" of lift on a ZJ. I think over 5 inches they recommend you go to a long arm set up for stability reasons. Good luck and let us know what you end up doing.

if you want to try to go 9" of lift with a zj, you might want to start looking toward a long arm suspension system. Lengthening your driveshaft at 9" will work but very prone the driveline vibes, think about a slip yoke eliminator and a cv drive shaft for the rear...as for the front you could get by with lengthening possibly. DIFFERENT REAR AXLE

if you are still running a dana 35c, you'll blow that POS to bits running 35's or larger....look into an 8.8 ford rear axle from an explorer

for using 3" LCA's with a 5" lift be careful, some LCA's are the same length center to center as factory and wont do anything to help reduce vibes

are they fixed or adjustable control arms?? if they are adjustable, you can make them work for adjusting the pinion angles. pick up a tcase drop kit, and then pray it all works.
