Key turns, no resistance

I have a 1993 Grand Cherokee. No real problems except I think my neutral safety switch may need adjusting beacuse occasionally I have to hold the shifter slightly foward in park to get it to start. Today, I tried starting it and the key will turn, and I have full power, but it will not try to start. And there is no resistance to the key where turning would normally start the engine and then push the key back to it's normal position while the Jeep is running. When I turn the key, it turns all the way with no resistance and the Jeep does not try to start. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Try putting it in nuetral and move it slightly up and down and see if starts. Sounds like your nuetral saftey switch is bad or your linkage is out of adjustment a little.
