Check Engine

Me Again,

I had replaced the plugs, plug wires and the fuel filter on my 96GL.The check engine light is still on. Should I disconnect the battery to turn the light off or should it go off by itself?

I had heard that if the problem was corrected it should go off after driving for a short distance.

Any voices out there!!

Thanks

It should go off by itself once the problem is corrected. It will take longer than a short distance however. It may take a few drive cycles. I would think a week or two of everyday driving.

Would it be better for me to disconnect the battery or just drive it?

If you disconnect the battery you will lose the learned parameters. It will not take long for the vehicle to re-learn them.

I say 6 of one vs 1/2 a dozen of the other. I don't know if there is an advantage either way.
