I have a 1999 GCL. I am going to be installing my 2-12in subs. I have a Rockford Fosgate 1500 watt amp and was looking for any ideas on all aspects of the installation. Running power wire.(4gage) Is there RCA plugs in the truck? anything you could think of. I would like to keep the stock 10 disc changer if possible.

Personally, I'd change it all if you are going for quality sound. You should still be able to keep the disc changer. You'll have to run your own RCA's.

I was going to leave the stock speakers in for the time being. I dont think my 1999 GCL has RCA plugs so I was going to hook my amp up the one of the back speakers. The amp came with an adaptor if you cant use the rca's. I dont know if i want to drill to run power wire under the truck. If anyone has a easyer way tell me.. But I dont want to see any wire like by the doors or anything. Im going for the clean look.

What I did on my Jeep was cut a slit in the back of the boot that covers the wires between the door and the interior and then ran my wire inside under the carpet and trim. You can't tell unless you look for it.

If you would rather run it underneath and drill a hole....make sure you use a rubber grommet where the wire enters the interior and I would even put some sealant in there to keep the moisture out. You should be able to pick up those items at any hardware or auto parts store. Good Luck with that!

Do you have subs in your truck? Just wanted to see how you ran the Audio wire. or if you put a newer CD player in that has RCA plugs.

I have put in a whole new system. Nothing (stereo) in my Jeep in factory. I've even got an in-dash DVD player and screens. I just ran my wire down the sides of the interior underneath the edge of the carpet and trim.

I have everything ran now, but my remote and rca wire. I have a question about RCA's now. because my stock 10 disc changer doesnt have an RCA plug on the reciver.

Can you take an RCA wire.. Cut it and plug the rca plug into an amp and then wire the cut side into a speaker wire? (+ and -)

and if so, how do you tell what one is positive and what one negative?

I'm trying to understand what it is you are wanting to do, but you lost me.

1st off, how is your 10 disc wired into your stereo?

2nd off, RCA's are wired into right channel and left channel with the shield being negative and the inner wire being positive.

I have everything in line now. I got a converter for it. Because I am staying with my stock 10 dics changer, there were no RCA plugs and I needed them for my amp. I looked around and found this converter. I will have to splice into both back speakers and hook them into this box. "The two back speakers will still work normal." On the other side of the box is the RCA plugs. "This device converts high-level signals from receivers rated up to 30 watts per channel into pre-amp-level signals that are virtually free of distortion (0.02% at 1 kHz, 1v RMS output into 10k). "

(1999 GC limited.)
I am haveing some truble knowing what wires are for what. I am hooking this converter to the stock amp. All the speaker wires run to this. There are two power wires running to this too, 1 saposedly a Constant and the other a Switched, but they are both the same color (red & white) and when i hook the remote wire up to eather one of them the new amp will turn on no matter if the key is turned or not. If someone could write back with the spasific wire color for the left and right " +,-" back speakers and a remote wire I would be thankfull.

blue/white wire is your remote wire for aftermarket. not sure what color it is for factory. check the other threads for specific wires. brian laid them all out for you on the other thread.
