Car cranks but won't startlastrep2 12-05-2004, 11:43 AM 95 cavalier was running great stop at store for about 20 min's , tried to start car but no start, cranks over ok but will not start. Now not sure if this is related but believe it is about a month ago I start smelling gas fumes specially when running heater. Doe's anybody have a idea what the problem could be public 12-05-2004, 04:11 PM Do you have spark? The smell could be from a bad pressure regulator. lastrep2 12-07-2004, 02:26 PM Yes I do have spark public 12-08-2004, 04:28 PM You will need to follow the fuel flow to see where it stops. You may need a fuel pump, or filter. If these are fine you may need a oil sending unit. If this unit goes bad the ignition module will sut off the fuel injectors. Good Luck. lastrep2 12-14-2004, 02:55 PM Ok thanks for the replys,But here is where I stand now.Had it Towed home went out two days later car started right up,so to be safe I changed Fual filter, air filter put fual injector cleaner and dry gas in tank drove car for over a week and a half no problems, started this morning drove 1 mile to store came out try to start same thing won't start. I do have a question if I turn key on should I always hear Fuel pump kick on ? because right now I done. thanks for any replies Dave lastrep2 12-14-2004, 03:14 PM sorry for all the mis spells (Fual, should have been Fuel) and (Done should have been Don't) godenm 12-14-2004, 09:47 PM yeah, when you turn the key to the on position the pump should run for like 2-seconds. sounds like maybe fuel pump relay is going bad, check that 1st,if thats it its a pretty cheap fix..
