This is a real crazy story. Brought this car over internet from Chev dealer.Claims this was a one owner car with 118,000 miles on it. Recently tuned. I brought the car for a very [poor lady} She lives in Iowa and I live in Georgia.

She got the car and drove it immediately to Michigan about 600 miles when it just quite running as she was driving it home. She had it pulled into a one man garage in a very small town in Wisconsin. She hitched hike home about 300 miles and has been waiting for a week for the mechanic to tell us the problem. I called him and this is his story.

He thought it would not run because the Cathlitc converter was stopped up. He took it off for $150.00 and that was not the problem. He then check the fuel pressure and it was fine. The fuel was fine. Engine would not crank. He has put on monitor and no code errors. He put in a substitute computer and it will not run.

He is not telling me the voltage for the Bosch fuel injectors is low. He has check voltage to be low, but circuit shows no high resistance, so he has dismantled the electrical system looking for a ground. Claims to have now spent 10 hrs doing this and it will still not run.

This guy claims to have years of work experience on this type of car.

Question.
Does the fuel injectors have a circuit from the computer to run them.
is it likely all 6 injectors would have the same problem.

He claims if he puts his battery charger on the battery and increases the output voltage the car will crank.

The battery voltage is correct and he claims all grounds are fine.

This guy is going to total out the car for me in labor if I do not provide him with some advice.

I have read all of the information on this forum and it appears if you rule out the ignition module, fuel pump, claims he has 35 psi there,

What could be the problem. Could there be some kind of wiring short and if so rather than tear the wiring apart, is there a way to just jumper around it to see if he can solve the problem.

Repair is costing a fortune and I just brought the car for her.
Any advice on this would be really appreciated.

If you could write me directly at mikejones@h-hinsurance.com would appreciate that even more. I need a knowledgable guy to call this one man shop and give him some advice.

Thanks
Michael Jones

And the poor lady has not transportation.

The only way the car runs is with a battery charger putting out 40 amps let's it work.

Mechanic is trying to find a bad wire from the ECM to the injectors and has put 10 hrs into it so far and no luck.

He has checked the catholitic converter=ok
Spark appears to be OK
Fuel seems to be OK
But will not run.

Was running, was on a 600 mile trip when it just quit running in rural Wisconsion.

Hope some of you experienced mechanics can give me some suggestions.

did he check the crank position sensor? It is a real common problem on these cars, and if he didn't, he has wasted a lot of his time and your money.

Today he got it running. Found 2 wires feeding the injectors which had bad insulations apparently shorting together.

That caused he says destroyed the injectors except for one. He has some used injectors around which he put in and it is not running fine he says.

So I guess the answer to this no running was shorted wires to Injectors which require a change of injectors. Thankyou
