I Hope Someone May Have A Solution To My Problem. I Have A 92 Lumina Eurosport With A Couple Of Issues. After Starting In The Morning And Traveling Down The Road And Then Coming To A Stop, It Won't Go Forward. The Rpm's Rise But The Trans Won't Engage. After A Seconds, It Seems Like An Eternity, It Will Finally Go Into Gear And There Isn't Much Of A Problem, Until It Sits Cold For About 4 Hours And It Does It Again. I Had The Trans Fluid And Filter Changed, But It Still Happens. The Mechanic Said There Wasn't Any Metal Or Anything In The Old Fluid That Would Indicate A Problem. Also, When The Car Is Warmed Up And I Check The Fluid, It Seems To Be A Little Foamy. Can Anyone Help. I Want To Give This Car To My Son To Use, But Can't See Spending Major Bucks For A New/rebuilt Tranny. Thanks!

See if it helps to put it in a different gear setting. WHen it does that push the shifter into 2 or 1 even and see if it kicks into gear then. If it does then it may be your shift cable is stretched.

If the fluid is foamy, it may be overfull on fluid. That will cause the car to not shift. I would guess that since it acts up when cold, that it's a sticking shift solenoid or sticking valve body if it's not an electronic shifted trans.
