1999 JGC Laredo: interior lights/locks/buzzer/alarm

When I acquired this Jeep I noticed that the interior lamps we not coming on when entering or exiting the vehicle. When the key is inserted in the ignition and turned on, the lights come on - even fading to off when the door is closed. However, I do not hear a buzzer or warning that my seatbelt has not been fastened. The lights do operate when the manual switch is rotated to the on position, though. Ther is no warning alarm that the key is still in the ignition when the doors are opened.

The alarm light on the dash does not illuminate when the doors are locked upon exiting the vehicle -- with the remote keyless transmitter.

Can anyone familiar with this explain a fix.

Thank you.

I found the problem...

First I replaced the underhood lamp that was missing. Then I replaced the 10A fuse for the underhood lamp.

Voila! All is now working correctly.

AMazing what replacing a fuse will do.

Did you ever look into which wire activates them? I need to tap into it for my lighted running boards. Worth a try>

I don't readily know the wire number/color....I will check in my Haynes book and reply.

Thanks for the excellent answer! I had the same problem on my 1999 JGC I just bought and this fix worked like a charm!
