Coolant Leaking Out! ga81peach19 12-03-2004, 12:12 PM
I have a question..I have a 91' Chevy Cavalier that I just purchased not to long ago and I am already having problems: Main Problem: Everytime I start the car it starts jerking, unless it is driven for a certain amount of time, then the radio and winshield wipers wont work until the car heats up (I guess) then I can turn the car off and restart it and they will work. But my main problem is everytime I drive antifreeze leaks out of my car and causes the temperature gauge to go all the way over. I got a hose (dont know which one) changed and it still leaked. I got some radiator stuff to try and plug it if there was a hole inside and it worked for a few days then i was driving and the temp went up and the hood started smoking. Someone looked at it and sd it wasnt leaking from the radiator hose (or whatever) ..but it is a hole somewhere under the hood and it leaks after being driven. Question: Could anyone suggest what I should do or might know where the leak is coming from? Is this a water pump or thermostat problem? GMMerlin 12-03-2004, 12:25 PM You will need to have the system pressure tested to find the source of the leak ga81peach19 12-03-2004, 12:35 PM oh ok..so where can i get that done? Classicrocjunkie 12-03-2004, 01:22 PM your... : twitch: .... dealership.... or another good service shop thats non-comercial .... commercial is ( i.e. pepboys, monroe, e.t.c) mattcurry 12-14-2004, 11:08 PM sounds like a waterpump to me. ga81peach19 12-15-2004, 09:31 PM I found out my mats are getting soaked on the passenger side...I think the water or coolant (whatever) is leaking to the inside. What does that sound like? public 12-15-2004, 10:02 PM That would be from the Heater Core. The little plastic tubes on them crack. ga81peach19 12-28-2004, 08:18 AM where is the heater core? public 12-29-2004, 03:37 PM Under the dash. Center of the car.
