electrical problem

We were told that there is a communication problem between the computer and the cluster in our 96 GC. How do we fix that? The gagues come on and off (mostly off) and so do the door locks. Sometimes the Jeep won't even start....sounds like the security Automatic shut off. Thanks for your help!
