I don't know much about tekin's... I don't know if they are around anymore. I do know that they are very good ESC's though. Look around on rccaraction.com

yeah a max of 1000 amps of current is good. Tekin also made good speed controls. As far as I know they are still in buisness, but they do not make any new speed controls. They are there to service odler speed controls. I want them to start making esc's, they made good ones.
