I have a 1996, automatic 6 cyl jgc.
When I put the key in my jeep and flip it forward, the interior lights come on, the dashlights/radio etc.. but when i turn it to crank, there is Nothing, does not start up and all lights go off and do not come back on.
I have to wait about an hour or so to turn the key again and then the dash/radio etc lights come on, only to repeat all over again when I turn the key.

The battery is brand new, actually 2nd new batter in the past year, and I have tried to jump it and nothing.

I'm guessing starter? Are these easy to do yourself?

I'm a college student on a small budget, and i can afford to get a new starter and try it, if thats the issue.
Anybody?

Sounds like you may have a bad ground check you terminals and cables. check the short wire off the ground cable on battery that goes to body ground. The short one DAle :2cents:
Try jump start but hook the ground cable from jump vehicle directly to your engine block instead of battery terminal.

I think I have the same problem as your jeep. It happens every couple weeks or so. Just won't start, I have lights, radio all power. Just nothing when I go to start engine. Did you find out what was wrong with your car? I need help and am on a budget like yourself

Sounds like you may have a bad ground, Remove the battery cables and clean the battery posts and the terminals on the battery cables. After you clean the posts and terminals replace them. check starting, if ok get some die-electric greas an put on terminals. Dale
