battery light came ondutchct 11-30-2004, 02:50 PM battery light came on last night. it started flickering on and eventually stayed on solid. eventually the battery went dead and i was driving in the dark. the alternator belt is tight. most likely the alternator is gone? a friend was mentioning a regulator? are there cheap rebuilt are aftermarket alternators i can buy? can i just put new brushes in? what do you recommend for solving this problem? 87civicfranky 12-01-2004, 11:02 AM you can use the alternator off an 88-91 civic/crx.... all you have to change is the alternator damper(pully) i put a j spec zc alternator in my car...... craig87crx 12-01-2004, 07:52 PM I recommend replacing the voltage regulator and brushes. These items are pretty cheap and should fix your charging problem. Also, check your harness going into the alternator and the wiring to the main part of the harness. It may be unplugged or in bad condition. JiGGaWaTT 12-05-2004, 03:39 PM I went through the same exact thing. You could throw a 86-89 integra alternator in it. For me it makes the car run better. dutchct 12-05-2004, 04:00 PM thanks for the replies guys, i replaced the honda brushes and everything is happy again. super easy fix. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
