RFI - Radio Frequency Interference

Ok, so this one is going to come out of left field for many, but I am looking to reduce Radio Frequency emissions on my 2003 GC. I have a sensitive radio transceiver installed and I believe the fueld pump is the main culprit. I'm wondering if anyone has knowledge about how to talk to the emissions department of Chrysler/Jeep about reducing noise of this type. Sometimes there are mods for government/police that are available to solve issues like this.

Does anyone know who I can contact?

I've sent an email to Chrysler and never heard anything back.

Hmm I have no idea whether Chrysler would help any, but...
The first thing I'd do is bypass capacitors on the motors that you think are causing the problem.

Something in my climate control (probably the mode or blend door motor) makes a deafening noise on my Alinco dual band. I never got around to tracking it down, it didn't happen very often.

Thanks for the info. The most offending problem is the fuel pump, which is inside the tank. I have placed ferrites on the power leads as close as I can reach, but it hasn't appeared to touch it. What value of caps should I install and how I they connected. Not done that before.

The value isn't critical a .01uf either across the motor connections, or (possibly better) from each connection to ground, may very well do it.

Another possibility would be to install a gas tank skid-plate - if you don't already have one. Skid-Row makes some reinforced aftermarket ones that may seal around the tank better. You could always take out the fuel tank and fabricate a metallic cover for the top to enclose the tank. That may just alter which frequencies are dominant tho - just a thought.
