The 1G CFI is 89 and the newer 1.9 SEFI is 88.
That all at the crank, at the wheel's it would be about 90whp.

If your Escort is a 91lx, then it does'nt have a "1.9HO" motor. 90 is the last year of a true HO motor. They were only availible in the GT or EXP trims, not lx.

Jeff, I'm not argue'n with you, I just said what the valve cover said. Thanks for the info too. I wish I had an EXP at times...but they're far and few between anymore. My "brother"(very good friend) Dave had one in highschool with just the 2 seats and no rear seat. Is that normal?

Yep, EXP's only had 2 front seat's stock.
If your valve cover really say's "HO", and it's a 91, take a pic of it and post it. You have a very (very) rare or custom motor.
