manual transmission fluid change How to?icarus649 11-28-2004, 08:08 PM Can any one explain to me how to change the manual transmission fluid on my 99 Pathfinder? I have a manual transmission with 4 wheel drive. I want to put in synthetic fluid. Red line MT fluid. I located four 1/2 inch drive nuts on the tranny. Two to drain and two to refill fluid. One set is located on the bottom of the tranny and the refill hole is above it. It dead on the bottom...center of the transmission. The other one is located on the side of the tranny. Closer to the driver’s side of the tranny. It also has a refill hole above it. The question is do I have to drain both sides of the tranny and refill by adding fluid to both refill holes. Once I remove the refill nut. The nuts all accepts a 1/2 inch drive flex bar. Do I drain both plugs? How do I get the extra fluid out of the tranny converter? How do I completely drain the tranny fluid? Is the 1999 Pathfinder manual tranny have two drain plug hole on it? Anyone know if I will encounter any unforeseen problem with this procedure...? I already know that it will be very hard to refill the tranny fluid. I will have to pump it into the case. How much fluid will I have to add once the system is drained? Any jpeg picture of the drain plugs or would be a great help to me. My truck has 56000kms on it but I still want to change the tranny fluid. Any owners manual or drawing of the tranny would help.Thank you. dhensaw@yahoo.com Nov.28,2004. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
