No Airflow From Dash Vents???martymoose32 11-27-2004, 03:56 AM I have a 96 Windstar 3.8. Airflow only from defroster vents. Vacuum problem right?? The engine was replaced recently (dropped a rod through pan) Feb. 04 EGR cleaned at checkup Nov. 04. No vacuum leaks under hood. I had the vent problem before the engine went, so I asked for the vacuum check at checkup. Said no leaks under hood. When I first noticed the problem, airflow fluctuated with engine speed. At that time, I changed the front selector switch. The black vacuum line going into the switch had vacuum, but very little. I checked the vacuum motors under the dash and can manually move them. My rear roof vents work fine. Any ideas?? Diagrams?? Thanks haynboy8 11-27-2004, 05:41 AM same problem for me to 12Ounce 11-27-2004, 10:58 AM I would suspect that the black hose has debris in it or has been overheated, collapsed or crimped somewhere.....or possibly cracked. Why don't you try a temp "jumper" hose from some good vacuum point under the hood, to the switch, just for a test. martymoose32 12-10-2004, 09:37 PM If I install a jumper hose and it works, could I just install a tee in a line off the manifold and just keep the "jumper" routed to the selector switch?? Just a thought... martymoose32 12-10-2004, 09:45 PM Oh, one other thing, I read in another post about no rear heat. I have the same problem. Could my problems be related? I have changed the mode selector switch before, but not the rear/front air switch. Do the vac lines intermingle between the two switches, or are they indepedent of each other? I have tried to find vac diagrams, but no luck. Thanks. 12Ounce 12-10-2004, 10:35 PM If you go to "helminc.com" look up your model and search for info under "all media types", you will find and "elect and vacuum diagram" book for $32.
