92 speed sensor replacement

I will need to replace the speed (cruise control) in my 1992 LTC signature series. Can anyone email me directions and/or pictures. I will start with the servor (sp) then move to the area under the steering column.

We had a Ford Mech diagnose the problem, but hubby would like to try to fix to save $$$. Any help is appreciated.

My 1996 book won't be of much help I suppose.
Try LOL (http://www.lincolnsonline.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi) if you get no reply here.

I am not sure if it will, but in the mean time I have replace the servor with two different units and it still does not work. Now my question is....
is there another module some where between the servor and the buttons on the steering wheel? I had wires checked and nothing bad was found. Any help is appreciated.

Well, there's tons of circuitry in the 1996 Speed Control System.

The circuits this subject touches on are:
Engine Compartment Fusebox
Horn Relay
2 or 3 Clockspring Assemblies
Speed Control Assy (on/off, set/accell, resume, coast)
Speed Control Amplifier (the brain box, monitors all sensors, switches, etc)
Brake Pressure Switch (redundant safety device if the brake BOO switch fails)
Brake on/off Light Switch (AKA. BOO switch)
Vehicle Speed Sensor

...and maybe some others, it's on the same circuits as the Lighting Control Module, Redundant Steering Control Module, Auto. Climate Control Switches.

Well, now what do I ask? All the things you mentioned like horn, etc do all work and I do not have any lights out, except one small light near the license plate (dr. side). Do you have a picture of the circuit you could email to me. I called the junk yard and they said possible it would be a switch under the steering column. Of course they talk shop language and I am just the average joe...as in they know what they are talking about and I don't....but any help you could offer would be appreciated.
Thanks for your reply....

Sorry.. I didn't mean to sound like a jerk. I know just about as much as you do on the Speed Control System.

Like I mentioned earlier, I can copy you on the data from the 1996 book, but I have no clue if that would apply to your 1992.

Send me a PM with your email address and I'll send you whatever I can on the 1996..... wait >>

I just remembered something... I also have a "1992 Ford CD Manual", in ISO form (not burned to CD yet). It's 289.7 megabytes. I havn't tried to burn it to CD yet, but maybe that could help you out too ??

I don't have the capability to send you 290mb over the wires, nor do I host anything that big.

Lemme go ahead and try to burn the CD while you think about whether the 1996 data will steer you in the wrong direction. If I succeed, I'll send you the CD via USPS, or copy data from it to you via email, your choice.

Nope... That didn't work. The CD and file are only compatable with Windows 3.x I'll send the CD to you if you want, but it seems worthless to me.

I'll have another look at the 1996 data to see what you may be able to use, and at least get you a shot of the 96 diagrams for reference.

OK Snickers498...
I've just spent the past 50 minutes converting the entire 1996 Speed Control Manual to Acrobat (pdf) files. That's 71 pdf's at 3.7 megs.

I'm going to send them to myself at yahoo.mail so I don't have to deal with 56k speeds later on. When you're ready I'll forward the attachment to you from yahoo.mail.

WinZip file is called "1996 speed control.zip" including some sub-directory paths that made the whole thing easier to read, so when you unzip, be sure to include paths as an option.

Lemme know via PM here when you're ready.

IF ANYONE ELSE IS INTERESTED IN THESE, PM ME
