93 Gr Ch 4 AT front axle problemfwtcc 11-23-2004, 12:23 PM I just had an accident to the front driver side that snapped my tie rod. I had it fixed but the rim was screwed so I had the mechanic put on a spare rim and tire that I had, but the tire was bigger than the rest of the tires. So stupidly I drove on it for about 5 days and finally found the time to switch it to the back atleast. When I was driving on it the wheel would make popping sounds when I turned and now it doesn't do it as often as before. I felt the axle boot and could move it around. I am wondering if I should just take a loss on the 4 wheel drive or if there is a relatively easy fix for the problem. More over just what exactly the problem is. dksob81 11-23-2004, 03:00 PM it sounds like the CV was damaged from the accident as well. Cam7 11-24-2004, 04:42 AM Best way is to Jack it up with jack Stands of course and see if it bad. Not that expensive of a fix, got both of my axles for 170. Check the hub while your at it it can make the same sound. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
