question... thaa 06-12-2001, 11:16 AM
the larger chevy-truck with 454SS printed on its sides: whats the name of that truck?? DVSNCYNIKL 06-12-2001, 11:58 AM I believe it's the Sierra Super Sport. thaa 06-12-2001, 04:36 PM you know of any european name?? GMC and GM has got lots of names for their cars in the States, but like a third of them is called the same thing here in Europe... DVSNCYNIKL 06-13-2001, 09:50 AM I don't know the name. I didn't even know that they sold them outside of the US. Sorry, but don't know the name outside US. thaa 06-13-2001, 05:39 PM ok. had a nice one here in the neighbourhood before... lowered, two-spoke 17" cromes (think it was Boyd). real nice!!! Scott85 06-15-2001, 11:22 PM If it has a 454 SS on the side, thats the model. The 454 SS was a limited edition(kind of) to go up against the Ford Lightning(not the newer Lightning). Heep 06-16-2001, 11:29 AM I assume it was black, mid or early '90's.... thaa 06-16-2001, 11:42 AM black it was... Heep 06-16-2001, 11:48 AM Like this? http://www.454ss.com/gallery/Agee/Images/Agee_02.jpg It's a Chevrolet 454SS Sport Truck. They were made 1990-1993. thaa 06-18-2001, 05:20 AM oh yeah!! once at a streetrace I saw one with tinted lights allover: black, black and black. pretty cool... Crackerman 01-03-2002, 03:33 PM They only came in black. If you want a faster more driveable truck for about the same price, try finding an early 90's GMC Syclone or Typhoon, they had a turbocharged 4.3 v-6 (carryover from the grandnational project by buick) and all wheel drive. FAST! Hudson 01-04-2002, 10:38 AM Not exactly "carry-over" since the Grand National/GNX's engine was a (Buick-based) 3.8L and the Syclone/Typhoon used a completely different (Chevrolet-based) 4.3L V6. Crackerman 01-04-2002, 02:56 PM You are absolutely right, although all of the technology and information GM learned was carried over, based on different engines of course malibuick231 01-04-2002, 10:59 PM The Buick and the GMC where two totaly diffrenet engins.I have worked on both of them. Crackerman 01-04-2002, 11:21 PM Yes, the 4.3 chevy is basically a 350 that had 2 cylinders removed, they share the same bore size/spacing and have the same stroke, meanwhile the 231 buick was a pretty good average v-6 until gm powertrain specialists breathed on it with a garrett turbo making it one of the most awesome engines evermade even in moderndays( can you believe that the last grand national rolled off the assembly line more than 13 years ago?) malibuick231 01-08-2002, 11:17 PM Yea I have one of those 231s in my 79 malibu. It only made 413hp and 525 ftlbs to the wheels. Not to bad for a mostly stock motor. A cam and some boltons will do wonders on a gn.That was with a 400 turbo and 308 gears.I have changed the trany back too the 200r4 in hopes of a low 11 sec. et on radils. MountaineerTom 01-27-2002, 11:31 PM In certain years you could get them in White and Red also. Can't remember which years though. :) Related Links Enter the largest automotive community on the planet! |
