Death to a truckcrunchymilk55 11-19-2004, 03:22 AM Well I decided to head home for the weekend to chill with with friends and family, it's the first week I've really been able to in a long time. So i'm steadily cruising in one of the smaller cities on the way back just minding my own business. I take off from the light like normal, which usually means under minor boost. I get up to about 40, and a few seconds later I see this beige truck weave through traffic and line up right next to me. He stars lunging forward over and over to get me to race. Eventually, I drop it down to 2nd, and take it to 65-70ish (all of 2nd gear), and leave him in the dust, but I knew he wasn't ready because I gave no intent. So I yelled out my window wait til we get on the highway, the speed limit was only 45 on the road so there was no chance of racing there. Finally, we reach the highway and I drop to second, he honks three times and gets a slight jump on me from the start. By the end of second, he was a car length ahead, around 100 he was a bit over a car length in front of me. Then I zoom right past him at the top of 3rd. So we pull over and I told him I was very impressed with his truck. We talk for a bit, and his car is a 2004 Chevy truck (not sure) with the 5.3L V8. The engine was all dressed up in vortech stuff, even though he said it was stock. I can't tell the difference when it comes to V8's unfortunately, but it's probably just a dress package from Chevy, I dunno. He said his limiter cuts off right at 100, which explains why I rocketed past him. We talked for a bit and set up a race later on when he gets the limiter removed. I was VERY impressed with this truck. He couldn't believe that a 2.0L was just a length or two behind hi from 40-100. He was a cool guy though, I'll post the results of the full race later. O yeah, he was auto s-15racer 11-19-2004, 09:14 AM Nice tell me the turnouts on the next race Slowprocess 11-19-2004, 12:50 PM Keep us updated. Nice run. BullDog71ss 11-19-2004, 01:20 PM Nice run...and yea, the speed limiter on my truck is at 98 or so, kinda irritating. I'm having mine removed as well. CivRacer95 11-19-2004, 04:33 PM Very Nice Kill. Trucks these days are becoming real Monsters. I never had issues racing trucks up until the past few months. I've not ashamed to say that I have been blown away by a few trucks, but then again I drive a Civic. mmmeehh...Late... 97Lude 11-19-2004, 08:13 PM Nice race, keep us updated. chevytrucks92 11-19-2004, 09:51 PM Vortec is the name of the engines in GM trucks (like DC has the Hemi nameplate back). So it probably was just stock. Those engines are pretty strong. The 04s make 295 hp and 330 lbs-tq, and the 05s make 310 hp and 330 lbs-tq. Not implying they are race trucks, lol, but they can definetly pull a race car very well. crunchymilk55 11-20-2004, 04:44 AM Yeah I did some research on it. It's the 04 Vortech top of the line 2 door. It was a nice truck. I'll post the results of the full race when it happens. I never noticed how fast these trucks are getting lately. bad360rt 11-22-2004, 01:38 PM Nice run  No shame in losing to a truck  vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
