Turn Sig's Die when on the BrakeScatterpack94SE 11-18-2004, 03:21 PM Read this whole thread: 97 EX Sport, gf called me from work so I didn't see the truck yet. Any ideal's ? Brake switch is new but I have a spare. Problem was a short in the trailer wiring which is hidden in the driver side cubby in the rear. I was told that this is common because the wiring get's hot and will melt then short. Multifuction switch take's about 15 min's to swap if you ever have to do it. busa_4 11-19-2004, 03:26 PM check all your bulbs and make sure they are not cross shorting. also check you hazard switch. swap out the new brake switch first just to make sure. Scatterpack94SE 11-20-2004, 07:40 AM OK will try all today , thank's...:)) Valdez 11-20-2004, 06:06 PM Had a similar problem with a 98 Mountaineer. Turns out that the lighted hitch cover I had was the culprit. As soon as I disconnected it from the wiring harness, turn signals worked normally. I haven't had a chance to check the condition of the bulbs in the hitch cover yet, but I'm guessing it/they are burned out. Scatterpack94SE 11-23-2004, 12:57 AM more input< > because's it dark when I get home.. And I have to fix it before TURKEY-DAY or i'm dead...:(( Don't won't to drive my GP on Thank's Giving Day :(( busa_4 11-23-2004, 10:29 AM what have you checked so far? did you check all the bulbs like i said? Scatterpack94SE 11-23-2004, 04:30 PM checking tonight been very busy. Scatterpack94SE 11-23-2004, 09:05 PM Update: When I turn on the pass. side turn signal all 3 brake light flash, when I hit the brake with the signals on the t-sig's/park lamp's on that side light up. Front and rear. 97 Ex-Sport. ps. all pass side bulb's are ok,brake switch ok,3rd light 1.5 year's old. thank's busa_4 11-24-2004, 08:24 AM your going to need a detailed wiring diagram. you definitely have a cross short in those circuits. before you look into the wiring, check the multifunction switch. its the switch where your blinker staulk is located. you are going to have to remove the steering console trim to access the switch. Scatterpack94SE 11-24-2004, 10:03 AM Thank's Busa, I reading up on the switch in the F- forum. Scatterpack94SE 11-26-2004, 09:55 PM Not fixed yet, TTT Scatterpack94SE 02-04-2005, 11:28 AM Read this whole thread: 97 EX Sport, gf called me from work so I didn't see the truck yet. Any ideal's ? B33p3r 02-04-2005, 04:02 PM I know you've been asked if you checked the bulbs? and you said the pass side are ok. Do yourself a favor and change all your bulbs. They are not that expensive and may save you a lot of troubleshooting time. If one of the filaments are shorting to ground when activated, it can cause strange symptoms.
